A study of the British Empire exhibiting its extent, physical capacities, population, industry, and civil and religious institutions.

Written by John Ramsay McCulloch, a Scottish economist, author and editor, widely regarded as the leader of the Ricardian school of economists after the death of David Ricardo in 1823. He was appointed the first professor of political economy at University College London in 1828.

Volume one contains 32 pages of publishers advertisements to the rear.

In the original green cloth binding. Externally, smart with light shelf wear and bumping to the extremities. Light rubbing to the joints. A small mark to the rear board of volume two. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Some of the text block remains unopened. Bound by Westleys and Clark, London.
