An interesting novel set in the north of England after the Second World War, following a 25 year old working class man who, at the start of the novel, begins a new job as an accountant in Warley.
This was the debut novel of John Braine, and was adapted into a film in 1959.
CONDITION
In the original publishers cloth binding, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally smart, with one small mark to the spine. A small amount of fading to the head and tail of the spine. Dust wrapper is lightly edge worn with small closed tears, and with a chip to the head of the spine, and small chips to the rear joint. A few light marks to the wraps. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
