An uncommon first edition of this impressive study of the history of the hair comb, including examples of combs from the Germanic period, eleventh-century France, Bombay, and many other locations and time periods.

Including a twelve page introductory pamphlet from Frederick Winter.

Illustrated with eighty-four plates, consisting of three-hundred and ten examples of different combs. Collated, complete.


CONDITION

In the publishers original cloth covered portfolio binding. Bumping and fading to back strip head and tail, with boards bright. One portfolio flap detached but present, and another absent. Internally, one cloth backed volume with paper wraps. Firmly bound, with light spotting and handling marks. Plates unbound, as issued. Plates are bright, with scattered instances of spotting.
